Have you had your Gall Bladder looked at? Or kept a food diary to see if you have any "trigger" foods you should avoid?

yes gaul bladder, ultra scanned no stones. yes did food diary worse when eating salty foods.had 24 hr ph test last month so will get results of that when I go back. ct scan showed up nothing .2 enderscopes tests all clear. barium swallow showed stomach was not empting completly,
Have you tried Omeprazole on prescription? Hiatus Hernia?
if your endoscopes and ct were all clear, i'm not quite sure what king of surgery would help. If you are talking about fundoplication, my husband had it done and felt very much better from the moment he woke up from the anaesthtic
bednobs..it would be a Nissen Fundoplication and yes the results are good and it can be done laparoscopically.
As Watchover you suggested- Omeprazole 10mg -Resistant Capsules,
these are the answer to stomach problems, acid reflux .I have been on these for about three years now and have no problems whatsoever. I used to go to bed at night with Renees as I always woke up in the middle of the night with desperate indigestion . Have never looked back since I went
on these. Hope you get sorted soon but before I would go for an operation I would ask the Doctor if you could try these.
ebayfan/watchoveryou.............rest assured that the surgeon knows all about drugs to reduce acid regurgitation........he has dealt with it before you know.

He would not suggest operation unless drugs had failed to control the symptoms.

I am on omeprazole 40mg at the moment have tried a few others these seem to be helping .
Rainy.......I shouldn't get too excited, as if you are improving on medication as you say your are, then you will not be offered surgical intervention.

Forgot to mention going for more blood tests on Monday so will see if they show up. Anything.last time .6 months they were ok.
I agree with those advocating omeprazole. Try it for a few weeks before worrying about going under the surgeon's scalpel!
Question Author
Been on them off & on since last Oct. Do they take time to get into system? Happy New year to you all.
are you being seen privately? As far as i know the fundoplication is not a igh priority treatment on the NHS anymore
Omezaprole should be taken every day to build up the protection, not on and off,I suffer badly with reflux to the point that sometimes in bed I nearly choke to death.I take it every day and it as been a lot better.

all treatment on nhs everything i have done has been 1st class only the waiting times get a bit much.i had to come off the omeprazole because the tests i had instructed me to do so (24hr ph test & oesophageal manometry.
barium swallow & endoscopie.
I had the same problem as you; I was helped by upping my Omeprazole to 40mg per day (20mg on waking and 20mg in the eve) for hiatus hernia. It had got to the point where I could not eat anything at all without feeling like I was having a heart attack. I ended up cutting all allergens from my diet- potatoes, tomatoes, citrus, gluten, oats, salt, sugar, processed food. Basically I cooked from scratch, protein and vegetables, shopped at the Wholefood shop, never ate after 7pm, got a wedge for under my mattress and halved my portion sizes. I've not had heartburn or indigestion since- very rarely. i am sure I still have the problem but it does not give me pain like before. If you want to avoid the operation, do give these conservative treatments a go?
