Blood Test And Fasting

i have to do a blood test for diabetes plus others specified and have not been told exactly what i can have before the blood test, is it no food for 12 or 24 hours, what about water and medications, any help would be welcome
have to do this test tomorrow...

do not eat anything after around 10pm tonight and you can drink water any time. That is what I have stuck to in the past and had the test first thing.

how about medication of any kind, do you reckon that might interfere with the test?

Nothing to eat or drink after midnight tonight.

Essential medication may be taken with a small amount of water.

Hi em. I've just had a load of bloods taken and the Doctor told me nothing to eat after midnight and only water to drink.. Good luck with the test I hope they come back OK. x

so i can at least have a light bite this evening, ok to have coffee now, i'm gasping.
have been given some antibiotics so can take that as well,
i hope not to be remotely awake at midnight.. well past my bedtime

Last time I went for a fasting blood test I was told it was fast for 12 hours and to drink plenty of water before hand (makes the veins prominent or something).

Midnight is fine. Can drink water.

My practice nurse always says nothing to eat after 9pm the night before, if I have a 9 a.m. fasting bloods appointment - you can drink as much water as you like, and take medications if you need it Last time they took blood, the HCA said I hadn't had enough water, the blood was slow to come out....

My instructions for pasting blood test is no food of drink for 12 hours, though water is OK.
