I'm 43 and think I may be perimenopausal. I assume my GP can do some sort of hormone test to confirm this? If I knew for certain it would explain the sore nipples (on both sides) I've been experiencing of late. Feels like I've been jogging with no bra on :(

Hormone tests (FSH) are unreliable and you will get a my accurate assessment by believing what your body is telling you, if you think that you have menopausal symptoms then you are probably menopausal/perimenopausal.

One test that is important at this stage in your life is the thyroid hormone (TSH) which may indicate an underactive thyroid with symptoms similar to the menopause

Thanks Sqad I may very well look into this as I feel lethargic (TATT) a lot.
I'm the same and I had a blood test which came back normal. I have more hair on my sideburns area and much shorter periods than in my whole life, which have become random. My Mum had hers at 40 so I am certain it is perimenopause. The blood test was not accurate in my case.

Scarlett my Mum experienced the menopause in her early 40's, and my sister is 45 and going through it,or possibly reached it, as she hasn't a period in well over a year.
