Flu, maybe.
Get doc in sooner rather than later !...or if you can get to a and e....gone on too long !
I agree with minty. If you have a car get him into it and to A&E soonest.
A&E??

Accident and Emergency...

If you're really that worried about flu symptoms then phone the GP.
Can I just say....

No wonder genuine accidents have to sit in A&E for 4+ hours if people go there when they are feeling a bit poorly.
It could be meningitis, ummmm. However, given that the surgery should be opening inside the hour, I would go to your GP soonest and take it from there.
Doubtful that it is meningitis as there is no mention of stiff neck or headache in the op. Unlikely to be flu as it really isn't flu season, not saying it definitely isn't, just very rare to get flu in the summer.
I would get an emergency GP appointment if it were my son, A&E seems a bit unnecessary right now.
Glandular fever ?.....for which I was given the last rites as a child !!.....I'd take NO chances...hossie...NOW !
Oh goodness me.

Take him to A&E then.....Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeez
sounds like flu. Any rash at all? Try the following nhs site to check his symptoms http://www.nhs.uk/nhsdirect/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

meanwhile, give him plenties of attention, cuddles and kisses. That may shake him into health quicker than you'd know!
Remember that ibuprofen can be given in between doses of paracetamol. I've found that it relieves symtoms when I'm feeling grim.
As someone once said 'monitor the situation'. :)
Hope they're better soon.
^symptoms^
If, after 48 hours with paracetamol , his temp has not dropped..you need medical intervention ..NOW ...
Exactly!
....agree Minty, medical intervention is needed now. But as OP has said, I trip to the GP today is the most appropriate action. I guess flu too, but who knows. If he needs to be referred to hospital GP will do that. I hope he feels better soon twoboys.
If I had rushed to A&E every time one of my kids had a temp for 48 hrs + I may as well have moved into the place. A GP visit is sufficient for this, if the GP says hospital is needed then so be it. Stop panicking this poor mother for something that is probably nothing more than a mild infection that will improve with fluids and rest.
You're doing the right thing by taking him to the docs. It's probably nothing serious but better safe than sorry as you can see from the scaremongering internet quacks who have responded so far.

Hope it all goes all right.
For scaremongering....read concerned !
LOL
What is wrong with you people?
A temperature is death's door.
A gentle joke about a dead actor creates mass outrage.
The word crack sends you into a tizzy.
Jeez.
I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Your GP is your first port of call.
