I'm early 40s but have noticed a bit more hair on my sideburns area, and less on the top of my scalp! Is this dietry or could it be hormonal? Is there anything I can do to stop hair thinning on top?

Some women can suffer from male pattern baldness. It might be worth speaking to your GP about it and if it is down to hormones they may put you on HRT.
My guess is.....and only a guess......that your hair loss is associated with your Ulcerative Colitis.

I would see your GP for a blood test to see if you have a malabsorption of some kind.

Thanks- Sqad, what blood test would I need for that? I had folate recently which was normal. Just raised ESR as usual.
Scarlett...yes i had forgotten that you had routine blood tests....but i would also like T3,T4 and TSH (thyroid studies)
But one can have hair problems with UC for no known reason.
