Feeling Sick

I work as a driver and lately have been doing some early shifts, Not normally a problem but each day lately I feel really sick until about lunchtime when I generally feel better. Then I have my lunch, feel sick again for about an hour and then I'm fine. I've only ever once vomited IN MY LIFE and the thought isn't pleasant at all but why should I suddenly feel this way? The breadknife thinks I might have anxiety and I'd have to say that FEELING sick makes think I'm going to BE sick more which then makes me FEEL more sick and so on. I shall be off down the doctors on Monday but there's an Adamski LP up for grabs if anybody can give me advice before then, I'm back at work on Tuesday

P.S. I am a bloke so it's not morning sickness!

I would agree with your breadknife, it does sound like anxiety. Are you truly happy in your job? Are there other things in your life that are worrying you that you are perhaps not addressing?

Also are you having proper breakfast before you leave the house? Something like porridge? Sickness can sometimes be linked with being really hungry.

Or it could be that you are feeling sick BECAUSE of eating- after breakfast and after lunch.. Talk to your Doc- it could be any number of things.

a) I love my job

b) Can't think of any other issues apart from my general squeamishness and hatred for being sick

c) Always have cereal before work, have done all my life, never skip brekkie

iwbus,

Do you always drive the SAME lorry/van each day, because this has all the hallmarks of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. If you do drive the same lorry/van,then I would get it checked out to make sure no exhaust fume leaks were entering your vehicle. That would make you sick like this.

Question Author
Nope, different vehicles AND vehicle types
Could you maybe have a week off on the sick, and see if your symptoms persist? If they go away at least you know it is related to the job.

I am off sick today and do feel better so I know it's job related. We'll see what Doc Croc has to say on Monday anyway. Wish I could afford a week off sick!

iwbus,

Well thats that theory dead in the water!LOL

Could this be an inner ear/movement problem, that could upset your balance and make you feel sick?

Please note there is no fee for any of these consultations! LOL

Question Author
Don't think it's a balance/motion thing as I'm OK in the afternoon. The consulations are thankfully free but the anxiety theory is way out in front at the moment!
? indigestion ?
? hiatus hernia ?

Indegestion every moring?

Hia....what?!

I feel like this if I get up early in the morning (in fact, I get it every morning but it's worse if I get up before 7). I've always put it down to low blood sugars.

Do you eat brekky? I never feel like eating first thing but when I do, I tend to only feel ill for a couple of hours. Also, a good litre of water helps.

If you get any miracle cures, let me know!
Could it be because you've changed your shifts to earlies? If I've had a run of early starts I always feel sick after a few days.
iwbus,
Might it be worth asking your Doctor to run a (very simple) diabetes test on you?

Lactose intolerance is the latest bet, some of my "movements" have been consistent with problems I have read on LI websites. Maybe I have a problem with lactose digestion which causes nausea/sicky feeling which then makes me anxious about being sick? I was off work yesterday and today, had ice cream and milkshake not long before bed and felt icky but today I have avoided dairy stuff and been largely fine although I did nearly panic when I went into a shop this afternoon - no idea why
I have suffered from constant on/off nauseated feelings for quite some time.  The doctor doesn't seem to be able to fathom it out.  It's not stress or anxiety, it may be some form of gastritis (inflamed stomach), possibly gall stones, or even an ulcer - I am waiting to have some tests and an endoscopy (camera in my belly).  Hopefully yours doesn't persist for as long as mine has and you get sorted out quickly.
