Hi
PLEASE any help or advice.
My daughter has been suffering with her kidneys for well over a year. The Dr originally said that she had an infection and prescribed antibiotics. These didn't work and she then had another course. These still didn't seem to work and she has a constant dull ache on her sides.
She has had numerous blood test & scans. They thought it was kidney stones as she was rushed to hospital one night in excruciating pain but the could see nothing on the scan. They have said its not kidney failure as her kidney appear to be healthy.
She is a chef and has been told this is a common problem with people in the catering industry as they sweat more then most people and need to keep themselves hydrated more then most.
She cannot drink alcohol even a couple of WKD effects her that much that she ends up in hospital with severe vomiting so we know its not alcohol abuse as she is only 20 and discovered she was unable to drink alcohol two years ago when she was 18 and started going to pubs etc. We live ruraly with no bus service at night so we know she never snuck out when she was younger to go boozing in pubs or clubs.
She has also gone from a size 18 to a size 8/10 in just over three years. Dr said nothing wrong there as she has just lost her puppy fat and in the job she does is very active so has gradually lost the weight because of that.
She seems ok otherwise but it really worries me about her kidneys. She refuses to go to the Drs again as they say there is nothing wrong with her.
Any advice.

Clearly it isn't. Blood tests and scans being normal.
other alternatives need to be explored.

Sorry i cannot be of any further help.

The weight loss is a cause for concern.
I assume they've already checked her sugar levels? I have type 1 diabetes, I lost quite a bit of weight before I was diagnosed.
Oh sorry Sqad didn't see you there xx
why do you think it's a kidney problem, other than your daughter having an infection a couple of years ago?

She needs to go to the doctor - daft if she doesn't, with ongoing pain.

Its just that she has a constant ache where her kidneys are. She constantly feels sick which then puts her off eating. And before anyone asks .o..no she isn't
pregnant. She had a scan on her abdominal area a few weeks ago and no blockage of her kidneys, no swelling of her ovaries etc. Shes reluctant to go back to Drs as they say they cannot find anything and she doesn't want to be deemed a hypocondriact but its is effecting her normal everyday life.
does she have a normal menstrual cycle . is there any particular type of food which makes her nauseous ?
Question Author
She has had some spotting and occasional break through bleeding but not all the time. No particular food can cause her to feel sick. Shes not a sweet person ( sugar, fizzy drinks, chocolate etc). Being a chef she does have irregular eating times, and sometimes can have her main meal after 10pm, and some times not have a proper meal all day.
Did the doctor check anything other than the kidneys? Anyway, I agree that she should keep herself hydrated by drinking enough water. You could also suggest her practice yoga. Some yoga poses good for kidneys.
