If so why do you see people who build all their hopes for the future around what human leaders promise.

And yet the Bible was written, not by Europeans, but by men in the Middle East, in Asia. Yet it is for all people everywhere. It makes no distinction between people on the basis of geographical location, race or color, whether yellow, black, brown or white. In it we find these inspired words of the apostle Peter: “For a certainty I perceive that God is not partial, but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.”—Acts 10:34, 35.

But should you? Without even raising the question as to whether individual leaders are honest or capable, the Bible gets to the core of the matter by reminding us that all of them die, and say “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. .........(Psalm 146:3, 4) So, at most, human leaders influence the affairs of a portion of humankind for only a few years. As for long-term security, they cannot give it to you any more than they can provide it for themselves.

Sad all because they don't understood the Bible.

Cut and paste, cut and paste, again and again, you take up a lot of space goodlife for someone without an original thought in your brainwashed head!
//So, at most, human leaders influence the affairs of a portion of humankind //

Just as your leaders are influencing you!!

Stop preaching. You are abusing this website!
Strange you profess to know the bible - but you obviously don't. So you don't understand the bible.

God condemns other races to bloody genocide throughout the bible if they don't "worship" him:

Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. (Numbers 31:15-17)

Thus saith the LORD of hosts ... Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ***. (1 Samuel 15:2-3)

Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones. (Psalms 137:9)

Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb. (Hosea 9:16)

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. (Hosea 13:16)

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives raped. (Isaiah 13:16)

Their bows will strike down the young men; they will have no mercy on infants nor will they look with compassion on children. (Isaiah 13:18)

True of many people who follow religion without questioning it.

Reminds me of these people who stand on a box in the High St, shouting through a megaphone about jesus coming to save our souls.

All rather sad people.
"And yet the Bible was written, not by Europeans, but by men in the Middle East, in Asia

really !?.... do you want to check your "facts" out

does the word delusional mean anything to you, how about gullible ?
The bible certainly does discriminate. Otherwise why are the jews named as the chosen people ?
In other words, gods' favourites ?
I'm not sure it's necessarily accurate to say that some of us trust what human leaders say as such, but that some of us recognise that flawed though we are, there is no one other than us humans capable of dealing with the issues that affect us.

For all your pontificating and preaching, you and the other religious folks have yet to show that there's a good reason to trust in whatever flavour of deity you promote. In fact, those deities show every sign of having been invented by the same flawed humans you condemn.

If I wrote a story now about something that happened in 1600AD and proclaimed it all to be true. That is pretty much the same as the bible.
Not written by Europeans?

Even traditionally you have Luke who was Greek and Paul who was a Roman citizen.

The New testament itself was collected and came into being in the Roman empire and was translated first by St. Jerome another Roman.

You might have some semblence of an argument with regards to the Old Testament but the New Testament is a very European document.

I don't understood your need to continually proselytise when we are obviously so deaf to your message.
@goodlife - plenty of people here understand the bible perfectly well.

Anyone taking the bible literally when it suits them, metaphorically when it does not professing sadness at others not understanding the bible is someone to be laughed at heartily :)
your OP doesn't make sense, goodlife. why do think people don't know who complied the Bible? The Holy Land is near East, not Middle East. Check your atlas.
Goodlife - “... Yes all very Sad of all you don't understood the Bible...”

If you bother to read people's posts on this section of AB you'll know that quite a lot of the posters appear to know far more about the bible than you do. I notice with interest but with no surprise whatsoever that you've completely ignored Dave's post above in which he quotes numerous biblical passages that overtly contradict your copy & paste claims.

It's all very sad that you don't understand the bible nor what constitutes logic and evidence.

Why is a right knowledge of the Bible’s contents so vital, because this difference between the view of today’s religious leaders and that of Jesus and his apostles.

And yet today almost everybody on earth can read the Bible if one wished to do so, in his own language, and if the original writings were available, how could everyone read God’s Word.

All these Bible books are in harmony with one another. The same theme runs throughout the whole, namely, that Jehovah God will bring back righteous conditions by his kingdom. The first book, Genesis, tells how a paradise home was lost because of rebellion against God, and the last book, Revelation, describes how the earth will be made a paradise again by God’s rule.

So anyone who says that the Bible does not contain the same information as when it was originally written simply does not know the facts. Jehovah God has seen to it that his Word has been protected not only from mistakes copyists made but also from those who mock it or attempts of others to make additions to it. The Bible itself contains God’s promise that his Word would be kept in a pure form for us today.
Muslims would argue that exactly the same for the Koran, goodlife, and Jews for the Torah.
He's talking rubbish - as usual.
..and not very coherent rubbish, either :-)
More C&P nonsense.......

You are becoming terribly tedious, goodlife.
