I was bitten by something while watching my son at football last night, I now have 3 largish blisters on my leg that have a hard area around them and itch like crazy-would it feel better if I popped them and would it cause any problem? Have taken antihistamine to try and help the itch but is there anything else I can do??

Yes I do, I pop, it relieves me considerably. I use AfterBite stick on my bites as soon as I realise I've been bitten. Just keep it clean....
There`s not really any reason to pop them. You`ll just be opening up the opportunity for bacteria to get in and then you`ll be worse off than you are now. When I get a bite, I scratch around the area but leave the main bite alone. If you don`t break the skin, an antihistamine cream might help. Failing that, try hydrocortisone.
By the way, if you insist on popping, do it with a steralised needle and cover with a dry dressing.
I would go to the chemist and see what he/she suggests.
Of course :-)
It really doesn't matter which way you play it...!!

As the lovely 237SJ has suggested. if you feel the need to "pop it" use a sterile needle.

Antihistamine cream is ideal for the surrounding area.
My son recently had about forty midge bites on his back. They were all raised up and very itchy. I just covered them well in T.C.P.and then next day they were fine.

Thanks for all your answers. Went to chemist to ask for something to stop itching and she pulled a face and suggested a doctors appt. Now on a course of antibiotics and still want to scratch my legs off! All blisters have popped so am trying to leave uncovered when at home to try and dry out but cover when out as weeping so yucky and look gross!!
