OH is just getting over a cold but has now developed a cough I went in chemist to get some cough medicine and pharmacist has suggested he makes an appointment to see his doctor as a cough is a side effect of the Ramipril tablets which he has only been taking for the past 3 weeks my question is how will the doctor know whether the cough is from the cold or the side effects of the tablets

He won't.
Brief and to the point Squad.
My Dad has a Ramipril related cough. I asked the doctor if it would be okay for him to take Covonia and he said that it was fine.

No point in him making the appointment then sqad just be wasting his and the doctors time in that case, will try covonia Sir Alec find that a pretty good cough medicine
There are a lot of nasty coughs around at the moment and lots of these people who have them are on Ramipril (like me) Mine lasted for ages and was really chesty but I carried on with it (and Benilyn) and its gradually gone but sure took it's time! People were trying to panic me saying it was the tablets but I have been on them for 3 years so guessed it wouldn't be them. I'm sure your OH's is just a cough bug but ring the doc if you are worried.

Thanks Ann he went to the doctor and she told him she's reluctant to take him off the Ramipril as they will help his kidneys and has given him an inhaler to use to help with the cough so fingers crossed
