I hav just found vapor rub...

1yr out of date..do i chance it!!!?
Ephedrine nasal Spray OR the equivalent nasal decongestant spray available over the counter in any chemist.
Vapour rub is fine.........until you can get to the chemist.
Yes use it, just don't eat it. You can put some in a bowl of hot water and do the towel over the head to make a tent thing to make it work without slathering it over your body
Good morning sqad....
woofgang.....good morning my love.
Can you get liquid peppermint oil in the UK. A few drops on a cotton pad and then inhaled will really open your nose up. Be careful of all the blowing....I wasn't and now have a sinus infection and have to take penicillin tablets for it and it really hurts.

I think so xstitcher!!

I am bothered with my sinuses...

Come to think of it- im saying this is a cold but have had headaches for few days too so may be the old sinuses playing up!! Pain across forehead and nose plus the feeling that i have to swallow "gunk" and blocked ears xx
If still blocked at lunch, the hottest curry or chilli you can stand will work wonders.
Vicks sinex or Sudafed nasal spray they work wonders to take down the swelling in the nasal lining that makes you feel blocked up. I try only to use it before I go to bed but it really helps and you can get some sleep.
There are various treatments but not all last. I have tended to stick with the Vicks Sinus spray, it's about as good as anything else I've come across. They have a decent range of medications for this sort of thing.

Although if you are that tired maybe you won't be awake long enough to worry about the mouth breathing for long.
The only way to ease your problem is to arrange with your Doctor a visit with Ear nose & throat consultant to see if you have problems with Polps which need to be shrunk or removed. I know because I've had it done, don't be fobbed off with sprays.
I get menthol crystals from the chemist. Use very little in a bowl of hot water and inhale it under a towel. Hope you feel better soon x
Be careful if using decongestant while on other prescribed medicines - the pharmacist told me not to use Sinex while on medication for high blood pressure. Not sure if that applies to Sinex sticks that you can put up your nostril or just the decongestant sprays. Maybe Sqad could clarify please? PS Many thanks for your reply to my other question Sqad - much appreciated, will monitor the situation. Hope you are progressing well - we are so glad you are back with us again! ;)
Extremely unlikely to be due to polyps,as they come on over a longer period of time.
Ann...the short period of time that one is on nasal decongestants, then drug interaction with blood pressure tablets would not be an issue.
Wouldn`t it be because decongestants are vaso constrictors so would constrict all veins etc in the body and could affect blood pressure? (rather than interacting with blood pressure medication)
Very unlikely.....nasal decongestants act locally......not overall of the body.
