It could be just coincidence, but there was a white feather just outside the car door when we went off to choose some flowers for my mum-in-laws funeral. There was another on the car windscreen, at the funeral director's, where I'd taken my wife to say her goodbyes. Finally after the service at the crematorium, on the way back to the car one floated down and landed at my feet.

I also dreamt the night before the vicar was coming to see the family [pre-service] who he was, and he's off a rota out of town.

I also get the same waft of a sweet, almost biscuity smell - a bit like custard cream aroma -about the same time each evening. No air fresheners on, no biscuits open. It's just a smell almost direct to me. Am I being hyper-sensitive, making connections that don't exist or ?

After my mum died I noticed white feathers at various times - whether they had any meaning is debatable, but I had read that white feathers are often seen in connection with the person who had passed, and so my mum came into my mind - auto suggestion - doesn't matter, because I was thinking of my mum. I also had several instances of a very strong vanilla perfume...

Yes OR you are a very "suggestible" person..........like many others.
Kia cat - IMO, we are more aware of things like this happening when we are emotional. My mother always remembered a blackbird singing its pure song outside the window at the moment when her mother died. When my father passed away and we were going through his papers, we had a comfortable feeling that he was OK with that, we all felt it. It's whatever gives you comfort at this time, which you will remember as being significant.
I think some people are more sensitive to this kind of thing but whether it's auto suggestion we'll never know. After my mother died I was sure she was visiting me as a butterfly as at that time I seemed to notice them far more. When I was speeding down the runway about to take off to leave from my beloved summer holiday last year and feeling quite tearful a butterfly flew outside my window all the way down to take-off. I thought it was her! It gave me comfort but in reality it was just a butterfly nothing more.
After my mum died I noticed white feathers at various times - whether they had any meaning is debatable, but I had read that white feathers are often seen in connection with the person who had passed, and so my mum came into my mind - auto suggestion - doesn't matter, because I was thinking of my mum. I also had several instances of a very strong vanilla perfume smell, which is the one mum used all the time especially when I was helping her to shower and dress, the last thing she would do was have a quick spray of vanilla. There could have been no reason for me to smell it at the time, because I don't use it.
It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or says, if it makes you feel there is some kind of a connection, then carry on thinking it.
are there white feathers around when nobody's died? Would you notice them if there were, or is it just now that you're more alert to what's round you now?
I agree with jamesnan, I will also go on to say that I rarely see white feathers so seeing the amount you have over a short period is a little unusual.
I believe in such things but many on here...infact most dont

Lovely- xx

Thanks everyone. Perhaps it is all coincidence, but like Prudie's butterfly, boxtops's blackbird and jamesnan's vanilla, there's things you suddenly notice. It's a lovely comforting feeling, I maybe making connections that don't exist, putting 2+2 and making 6. Just curious to find if anyone also had similar things happen. Take care all, and thankyou tinkerbell, sorry I can only do one best answer, but your's was the loveliest! X O X O X ♥
I go along with Tinkerbell because of lots of experience of such things but it wouldn't do for all of us to be alike so you just have to take your experience too and see it for what you think it is, we won't get to know the truth here unfortunately.
White feathers when there is no reasonable explanation for them is supposed to symbolise a message from someone recently departed but not outdoors in the uk where many birds have white feathers.... as for the rest your subconscious is possibly trying to comfort itself.
Who really know Kia, who really knows. Believe what you wish, it is your choice.
Superstitious nonsense I'm afraid.
