Homemade vegetable soup.......four hours later diarrhea? Soup was made from pre packed ready cut vegetables. I took most of the turnip out because it had gone brown. Huh try to be healthy and end up with " the sh*ts"! Can bad veg cause diarrhea?

Yeah....They put the latest outbreak of illness (can't remember what type) down to cucumbers. There was also something recently regarding potatoes.
If you are not used to it, any large amount of veg can give you the runs. If it was only the runs and no nausea, sickness, stomach cramps, its likely to have been the amount of fibre you consumed and not food poisoning.
And that's cheating-prepacked ready cut veggies? tut tut tut!

ok! thanks guys!!! i,ll stick to heinz from now on xx
Or wash and peel your own veg ;-)
Presumably, in the making, it was boiled, then simmered? So symptoms aren't down to bacteria.

thanks guys! maybe it was an overload of fibre!!!
prepacked veggies go off quite quickly regardless of anything else they lose so many of their vitamins after preparation. veg should always be prepared at the time of use or use tinned or frozen
I think its more down to the prepackaged veg rather than veg itself. prepacked veg is sprayed with presevatives in order to stay fresh. why not try making a soup from fresh veg instead?
