im expecting.

had my last smear around 8 months ago. it came back clear.

had swabs last month for possible thrush etc.. it came back clear.

i had a few spots of bleeding x2 in a week. went to hospital for internal by doc who said i had adhesions on my cervix.

im convinced its something sinister like cervical cancer. am i being stupid, as surely my smear would pick this up. how accurate are smear tests?

plus, as the cos looked last week, wouldnt they have seen something if there was something there. i have booked docs again for monday but dont want to look silly.

Aren`t adhesions scar tissue? Maybe from some past medical prodedure, endometriosis or a cervical erosion maybe?
gosh, calm down.. your mind is working overtime!

go to the doc's to set your mind at ease :o)
yellownana - course you think something's up! - you're preggy and hormones are all over the place - the medics have given you the all clear but can appreciate you think maybe something is quite right - all is probably well but why not post something 'for the attention of sqad' - he's a Doc on AB and will give you no-nonesense advice - in the meantime, try and relax a bit and stop seeing monsters when they most probably aren't there! :-)))
smear tests pick up all sorts of minute changes well before cancer sets in. you had nothing at your last smear, there's no reason for you to panic now, really.
how far are you along - a phantom period is not unusual, hence spotting.

If you are at 14 weeks or thereabouts, you should take care though. You need your gynae to do a full check, ultraprobe etc just to make sure our egg has properly taken its position in your uterus.......

So if you are at that stage, trigger your doc to act soonest and that doesnt mean that you ar, per se, in trouble. Just let them do their checks.
sorry typo there, hee hee, your egg, not our egg! (I am blushing)
Believe it and it will happen ! Positive thinking please, always.

thanks.

im 26 weeks. it may be from my previous labour then as it was quite traumatic. think my mind is just working overtime.
yes I think so, but still get an appt with your gynae-specialist or whatever you call him/her now; thats what they are there for - reassurance.....
Question Author
would it have been picked up though if thats what was wrong with me
yes moooost likely.....phantom periods can appear. But just get checked out, not least for assurance. (98% you are fretting about nothing - but that isnt the point, you need assurance, so just get a check as though a lot of us have lived through this, the one message is the need just to check).

thanks for that :-)
With the story that you have given and the investigations to hand, your symptoms are certainly suggestive of a cervical erosion.
No big deal.
I agree with Sqad it sounds like a cervical erosion. I had one many years ago, I think they gave me some pessaries to treat it.
As Sqad says no big deal.
