Do non-alcoholic drinks give you 'drink' breath?

Do non-alcoholic drinks,such as beer, cider, and red/white wine still make your breath smell of drink? Hubbie was accused at work for having 'drink' breath but I know he only had non-al beer and non-al wine the night before. I have looked this up on the net and get differing answers.
