I had a terrible night's sleep last night (and for the last few nights). Was up for ages with shoulder pain. I had a moan to my Mum about it this morning and she said "well that'll be the damp" :-/

I know the oracle of all things medical is no longer posting but does anybody else know if it's just an old wife's tale or is there any truth in it?

If it is true then why?

"the oracle of all things medical"

It is quite true that in cold and particularly damp atmospheres, musculo skeletal disorders (Arthritis ect.) are indeed made worse.

As far as I know, despite research, there is no apparent answer.
Welcome back, Sqad
ljdksa ....;-)
my ortho specialist told me it's something to do with pressure changes in the weather/ atmosphere which can affect the bones as they're made up of lots of very tiny pockets. have no idea if he was right, just what he told me.
Damp days certainly are worse for me. A dry mediterranean climate would suit me just fine!! Hi Sqad ;o)

i guess if the weather's been dry and then it changes to damp then the air pressure has changed somewhat so maybe that's what causes it lottie, rather than actual damp getting in to a persons body, if you see what i mean :)
All I know is today it was so cold this morning and so dank and I felt dreadful! Sun is trying hard to come out. I feel worse when there is low cloud. Still waiting for an invite to the Mediterranean. Hoping Sqad will take the hint. But if was being cheeky about him this morning so I might be out of favour!!
