Between c5 and c6 i have a degenerative disc (stiff neck). My muscles are tight on the left of my neck and shoulder. I have been refered for a (facet injection). Ive had massages, physio, accupuncture and nsaids. The problem is my headaches have become continous everyday. Im not sure if they are because of my dodgy disc. My skull feels like its too tight! I started uni 2 weeks ago(which i love) and find it hard to sit still during lectures. If i go back to my gp he will think i am a hypochondriac. I just need reassurance. Anyone have similar experiences. My head is busting right now! julie

Difficult.....more details needed.

Where is the headache? Is it stabbing or aching?
You say it is continuous, but does it go when you go to sleep?
Does anything make it worse?....i.e movement.
Does anything make it better?
Do go back to your GP. I know someone who's had headaches like you have for more than half of their life. Couple years ago they went to seem many doctors and specialist and they all believe it might be MS. They wanted to run a test on the spinal fluid or something like that; to be sure it's MS. The person refused to have the test done, said they'd rather die than have those test.

The headaches normally start at the base of the skull and gradually work there way forward but generally the "ache" ends up being at the frontal part of my skull. I dont think it aches when i am asleep. The only thing that will take the pain away is POM paractiamol and codeine thanks squad x
If I remember correctly you have problems elsewhere....wrists, base of spine ect?

The headaches could well be from C5 and C6 and the injections should soon give the answer. The other thing that comes to mind, maybe in association with the disc problem, is whether the headache has a psychosomatic component e.g Anxiety state or a depressive element.

tendinitus (in wrists) from too much typing (assignments) and yes sometimes i have problems with my sciatic nerve. goodness who wants to get old. I supose i do have some anxieties regarding uni work. Do you think i need a mri scan to check alls well? thanks for replies
Well that is up to your Medical Staff, but I cant see that an MRI of your brain is going to help at all.
Question Author
i thought a mri might show up an underlying cause of my headaches (like maybe too much fluid??) i just need reassurance i supose. I hope they are just due the dodgy disc. thanks anyway for all your good advice x

been to the doctors (drop in doc, so not my own doc). He done a thorough examination and wreckons the pain im having is cervicogenic headaches, that are related to my disc problems. thanks squad!
