Hi im a 27yr old lad and ive decided that i want to start giving blood, sadly there is one barrier that is stopping me. When you first give blood i believe that the nurse first must prick your finger to test what blood group you are in etc, Sadly im petrified of having my fingers or toes pricked and always have been, i was wondering can they prick my arm instead or anywhere else besides my fingers and toes?

They can take a specimen from the lower, "floppy" part of your ear or from a vein in your arm.
