Hi all

I was hoping someone may be able to help with this. One of my sisters had an operation on her hand/wrist for CTS and now, some 6-8 weeks after, has a slight swelling on the area.......her scar has not healed too much either, and area looks puffed a little bit..

When she went along to the nurse to have the stiches out some days after....nurse had problems taking them out and took quite a time to do them. It quite hurt whist doing this.

My sister went yesterday to see the surgeon, as was referred by her doctor...saw the registrar, who quickly dismissed that infection is in the area, and my sister thought that maybe a stitch was left in when the nurse tried so hard to get them out and it had infected the wrist.

This was dismissed with...."well it should have come out easier, but i will discharge you and if you need to see us again, please go to your doctor and they will refer you to us"........(she wishes she saw the actual surgeon now).....he said that the scar needs to be "de-senseadised" and has ordered her to have some physiotherapy on it.....pain still there, but will this help her to get swelling down, and heal the scar?.

Any advice, will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance, if not on when you post.

Could you please explain what "De-senseadising the scar" means and will it cure the pain and tenderness my sister has in the area?

Thanks again
yogi, this link might help.

http://www.eatonhand.com/hdt/hdt016.htm

It explains a bit about the scar tissue.
Hope it gets sorted

Glad to be of help yogi...don't think we're related ;-)

Have taught yoga for nearly 30 years so had to have something related to that! Good luck.
yogi.....sounds as thought there is a stitch left in.

Do what the registrar has ordered and explained well by yogasun, but i have my doubts.

Thanks for reply, sqad....lovely to hear from you.

Do you know what?.....that is EXACTLY what my sister and all of us think too, but we have to go on the advice of the registrar, that's why it would have been preferred to see the surgeon yesterday....

Appreciate your help, sqad.....let you know if pyshio works!

cheers

Hi - I'm sure you have this sorted by now, but I was in the same situation. Nurse struggled to get stitches out and afterwards I saw a tiny bit of stitch on my palm, but it disappeared. Felt stupid talking to dr as there was nothing left to see, but he gave me local anaesthetic the next day , dug around a bit and finally located the missing stitch. Felt much better after and has now healed beautifully. (this was before Christmas) If you think something is not right, stick to your guns and get it sorted. :o)
