Does anyone know how to cope with Temporomandibular joint disorder in the short term? my girlfriend is crippled with it and feeding her painkillers leads to heartburn which i then have to give her Gaviscon for. Its a vicious circle.

Any other remedies that might help?

thanks

Very difficult problem and AB is not the ideal medium.
She needs referall to a facio-maxillary surgeon for evaluation and treatment.
Your girlfriend really needs to see her GP and ask for a referral to see a specialist.

I was told that I had TMJ and after many years of pain was finally referred to a maxfax specialist. He discovered that my wisdom tooth had grown inwards and was pressing on a nerve. Had my tooth out the next day and have had no pain since.

I'm not saying that's what's wrong with your girlfriend, but there does seem to be a tendency among health care professionals to palm things off as TMJ that could have different causes.

Hope she gets it sorted and feels better soon.
