The standard, usual dose of Prozac (Fluoxetine) is 20mgs. More severe stress/anxiety can often cause Docs to up the dose to 40mgs. 60mgs is the maximum advised dose - has she self-imposed this increase or was she advised by a professional to up it to the maximum?

It is likely that side effects could be increased, but if 40mgs suited her without excessive side effects, she hould be okay.

Thanks for quick reply sallabananas, the doc requested she had to up the dose she was ok on the 40mg though she also suffers from fibromyalgia as was getting a lot of head and neck pain
If a GP advised the increase, then that's ok. I was concerned because you would be surprised how many people self-regulate & decide, without professional advice, to increase & decrease dosages of their medication off their own back.

I'm sure she'll be fine - she knows to go back if she does start getting increased side effects I'm sure.

thankyou so much i will pass the imfo onto her
Any side effects from an increase or decrease usually settle down within three weeks to a month - and they do vary from individual to individual.

Your friend should monitor her effects closely, and keep her GP informed, and not reduce without his consultation and agreement.
