Just recently I seem to be suffering from slight deafness. It came on suddenly, and it feels like you do when you have a heavy cold or have been swimming and still have water in the ears. Having tried Otex every night for the last four nights, it obviously isn't a wax build up. and generally speaking, it isn't any trouble for me. However last night when I went to bed, I couldn't sleep because all I could hear was the whooshing of blood being pumped, and some sounds to seem muffled. I will mention it to my doctor when I see him, but anyone ele experienced this, haveany idea what is might be or more to the point, how to solve. Ta

It could be wax - if there is a build up over time it needs more than Otex to clear it. Your GP should be able to tell if that is the case or if you have some sort of infection.

Ta, but it seems funny that it's both ears and sort of happened overnight.
Hi, my mum had exactly the same thing last week. She had caught a bug prior to that and this is a build up of fluid in the inner ear-so drops won't work, you'll need to be prescribed some decongestant by your doctor - unless you are on high blood pressure tablets (they won't give you decongestants I think they interact badly) but you will get antibiotics instead. Go to doc asap cos my mums got much worse, she is almost totally deaf with it now and has been told it could take up to 2 weeks to clear. All the best
It could well be wax. I had a similar problem years ago, and the wax had blocked the opening in the ear completely making me unable to hear. A couple of days of Otex and having the ears syringed solved the problem.
