I have a really dull ache just below my ribs and fill a little bit sick, and I am not wanting to eat. Am I right in thinking this is Indigestion??

I have tried Gaviscon tablets and it works for half hour or so but then the feeling comes back, whether I have eaten or not! Any other suggestions to how I can get rid of this feeling, I dont want to be feeling like this all over xmas, but I am in work till Friday, and have had a lot of time off sick and for docs appointment due to other illness so cant really take anymore time off.

Any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks!!

Sounds more like stress to me,irritable bowel syndrome maybe. Im no doctor i hasten to add,but by the look of your post it does sound stress related.

sounds like a classic case of helicobacter pylori (h. pylori)
i've seen it many times before!

you need to go to your gp who'll test you for it.
"if" you have it, he'll prescribe medication which should get rid of it within a week.

in the meantime if you can't get to your gp's, buy some ranitadine tablets from asda or morrisons. they'll cut down the amount of acid you produce!

Sounds like liver problems to me cymruambyth1
I am sure my little gallstones problem started like this - when you say just below your ribs is it central?
I had heartburn and indigestion for 30yrs, I assumed that it was something which ran in my family as my father had it and ulcers.
About 6months ago i decided to lose some weight ,i was 17stone I am now down to 14st 8lbs, I cut out all the usual things like bread..pasta ,all carbs and i stopped drinking coffee, guess what? I don't suffer anymore, It might not be the answer to your problems but its worth a try, but still think about a visit to your doctor.
cym, how long does this pain last? I get a similar dull ache which goes on for hours and hours and prevents me from sleeping. My doctor has diagnosed this as a Stomach Ulcer and has prescribed me medication for it. The trouble with an ulcer is that it can flare up at any time. Stress and anxiety normally cause my flare-ups.

Go to your GP and get it checked out.

The next appointment I could get at my docs is Monday! The indigestion has got a lot better, I have been using the liquid gaviscon, but I have needed to go to the toilet alot, which was very annoying with my having a three course meal for my works do yesterday, everyone was drinking and I just couldnt face it! I seem better today, the indigestion has basically gone it is just the toilet issue now! Thank you for your advice!
