Back trouble

Hi - I've been suffering from lower back pain for about 2 months now. It's worse first thing in the morning when I wake up (yes I've turned my mattress which hasn't helped) and is probably a result of overstretching a muscle which was damaged in a horseriding accident 17 years ago. It is better after a while of moving around but doesn't appear to be getting any better. Are there any specific exercises that I could be doing to build up strength/reduce the pain?

this is what i do...
a type of yoga called kym nye (?) its sore for a week then your muscles strengthen and you feel good.

also followed advice of a chap called Matt Furey.
stand about 3 feet from a wall facing away.
lean back into a crab position and try to get your nose onto the wall, then eventually the floor (whilst breathing and using your hands to walk down the wall) over a few weeks. The relief was instant.
This works for me and good luck (could also tryt the chiro)
A really good exercise for lower back pain, got this from a Physio, and it works, is standing, arms on your waist, breathe in, trying to get your stomach to touch your backbone.

Obviously, that is impossible, but its the trying, just do that a few times, a few times a day, you'd be surprised at the result.
I find that lying on a floor and hugging my knees while gently "rolling" my back into the floor helps particularly first thing in the morning. Pilates is supposed to be good and I have found that since I took up Tai Chi I don't have nearly as much trouble.

Thank you for your advice - I'll give all of them a shot although I'm not sure about if I'll manage to lean back to the wall!!
