I know this sounds like a comedy question but my boyfriend has an open cut from his anus to approx one inch above it. It is painful and bleeds when he wipes himself. Sorry for the details but cannot get a doctors appointment and wondered if anybody had suffered the same thing and had any advice? Thanks

oooh ouch - definitely not funny.

Bathe it with cotton wool dipped in a salt solution every 4 hours.....& dry. about 2 teaspoons of salt to about 2 pints water). If you can get to a pharmacy today, have a word with them & they'll recommend a suitable cream to apply.
Oh your poor boyfriend! I agree with Robinias suggestion about the salt solution. I had stitches after having both of my kids and I found that a warm bath with a little salt in helped. Also I can reccommend putting a facecloth in salty lukewarm water, ringing it out and placing it on the area. Other than that I think that it's best to let nature take it's course to heal up.
An open wound in that area is highly likely to get infected. You should also use some kind of external antibiotic liquid.
I would definately have gone to A&E if I could n`t see a gp.
splange, I used to get this ( A bum cut) every month just before my period was due and yeh it used to sting like hell and bleed. My Gp told me it was due to the hormonal changes each month (more sweaty) and precribed a topical powder rather than a cream which would have added more moisture. Its important for your BF to keep the cut dry. I can only guess maybe it's excess sweat causing this for him. Get him to keep the cut dry using talc and if that does no good best he see's his Gp.

Another thought splange. My daughter had a " Pinalidol Sinus" Briefly, it's an ingrown hair. Its a common and painfull ailment and can occur on any cavity. My daughter's was in the same place as your BF's. She needed an op to get the hair out and the cavity packed and changed by a nurse every day for a week so if the talc does'nt clear up your BF's bum cut he should see his Gp.
I would suggest you go to your GP to get this checked out. Because of it's location it's likely to get infected and this won't be pleasent!! As somebody in the medical profession who regularly sees tears of the perineum and surrounding area I would not recommend bathing in salt water at all. This is something from the dark ages!!
Good luck
I would just like to add that sometimes the old remedies do work. They always gave you salt baths after giving birth if you had stitches and it helped a lot with the discomfort.

well I grew up in the dark ages so that explains it! :o)

At 2pm on xmas eve when little or no help was available it was merely a suggestion for something to do that may not be a miracle cure, but might bring some relief & wouldn't do any harm.
Hopefully your boyfriend has seen someone by now & is feeling much better splange.
