Cold Sore/Funny taste in mouth

Hi all, I woke up this morning with a "lovely" cold sore. What I'm asking tho is, has anyone ever had a funny taste in their mouth that does not seem to go away when they've had a cold sore. Its just that for the last two days I have had very strange taste in my mouth, bit like a sweetish taste, can't quite work it out but I wish it would go away and then hep presto my little friend arrives this morning!

I used to get this too, since I take 100mg vitamin C every day - no more cold sores.

when a dental abscess develops i get a strange taste (though not unpleasent) and then sometime later i usually get a blister on my gum and this has the appearence of a mouth ulcer but it isnt quite as painful.
