I just started a job cleaning banks. I realized that with the disinfectants, they don't use dwell time. I feel bad being part of that so im thinking of just quiting. The thing is im a pretty bad job hopper. The job before this I stayed at for 10 months. The job before that I stayed at a month. Before that a month and before that a month. I dont want to continue job hopping but I dont want to take part in putting the publics health at risk. What should I do?

What is dwell time?
Question Author
It's how long you're supposed to let the disinfectant sit.

What does the container say about dwell time? Some only need a few seconds contact.
Anyway, if you feel about bad practice nothing will change if you quit, so you can feel bad about it forever. You can only make a change from within, so if you care, stick it out and start doing something about it
It's a bank, not a public convenience.
Isn't cash supposed to dirtier and have more germs than a loo seat?
banks have loos - for the staff!
Possibly Barry, along with traces of cocaine.
Doubt the OP is asked to launder money.
:D
Can't you organize things so you allow more 'dwell' time... say spray a few surfaces then go back & wipe them.
Why is it some Abers treat this as a joke?
If anti bacterial and disinfectant products are to work properly, then the instructions need to be followed.
I agree with Barry...see if you can work that time into the cleaning schedule...include the other people on your shift if you are working as part of a team.
I'm wondering if the problem is deeper than that. You don't seem to stick at a job for long. Do you maybe subconsciously look for flaws in jobs so that you can move on? You may not have found the one that gives you job satisfaction yet. Is there a particular area that interests you?
Personally, I wouldn't dwell on it.
someone's hot on the "delete" button!
that joke was already made (and removed)
If your boss is asking you to do something you are not comfortable with, or is against safe practice, you need to raise it with them.
I do, however, get the sense from your previous posts that you will always find something to be uncomfortable with WHATEVER your job is, or something that'll make you feel like a "bad person", and it might be better to concentrate on changing the way you view yourself (whilst JFD'ing the job) so that you dont feel so anxious about things all the time. I can guarantee you that no-one else doing that job feel anxious about it like you do
Wonder why my silly dwell remark was removed? Was it deemed as insensitive or a reaction to a complaint?
I'm still a bit baffled by the question. Don't you just go round the bank wiping every surface. A bit more thorough in the loos, squirt some loo cleaner down the pan. Leave it a while, give a scrub and flush then go home.
Hopkirk to be effective some disinfectants have to remain on a surface for a period of time before being wiped . Cindy is worried that isn't being done.
