Friend's daughter is a nurse and had her Covid vaccination this morning. Friend very happy as she worried so much about her daughter working in a Covid ward. She'll have a merry Christmas now.

Good news but am sure she knows she will need a second one before shes covered and still needs to make sure shes careful when close to others as she could carry it, but yes its a great relief and big step forward for her

You get partial immunity after ten days or so of being vaccinated.
// You get partial immunity after ten days or so of being vaccinated.// agree

if you get covid post a single vacc- the system will have been ( partly ) trained

put another way
if you were to get covid would you like or spurn a vacc ten days prior?
oh can I be saucy?

and is she the ward clerk?

( Taymz today - complaints the admin staff have been vaccinated before nurses and doctors)
My nurse friend texted me last night to tell me that she had had her first dose. Onwards and upwards, hopefully they'll start getting them out on a larger scale than they are now.
fingers crossed
Good news.

My nan won't get her first dose till Jan. She's 89.
I'm so glad we've got a weapon at last against the treacherous Covid super-spreaders like Cummings and Co.

V for Vaccine, V for Victory
I have posted this poem before but it seems appropriate on this thread.

Arthur Hugh Clough. 1819–1861
Say not the Struggle Naught availeth

SAY not the struggle naught availeth,
The labour and the wounds are vain,
The enemy faints not, nor faileth,
And as things have been they remain.

If hopes were dupes, fears may be liars;
It may be, in yon smoke conceal'd,
Your comrades chase e'en now the fliers,
And, but for you, possess the field.

For while the tired waves, vainly breaking,
Seem here no painful inch to gain,
Far back, through creeks and inlets making,
Comes silent, flooding in, the main.

And not by eastern windows only,
When daylight comes, comes in the light;
In front the sun climbs slow, how slowly!
But westward, look, the land is bright!
I love that poem woofgang. Churchill quoted from it in the war. Thank you for posting it and Merry Christmas xx
