Problems After A Cold Sore

I had two cold sores on my upper lip about six weeks ago. They cleared up but you can still see a slight redness where they were and my lip feels slightly swollen and sometimes feels like it's throbbing slightly. I've never had this with any other cold sores and I'm concerned that there's something sinister going on. I've thought about ringing the doctor but all appointments seem to be via telephone so I don't know how useful a consultation would be plus I may be making a fuss about nothing. Anyone had a similar experience?

Can you consult a Pharmacist?

They are good with advice.
Applying tea-tree oil 3 or 4 times a day to the area has always worked for me.
No, never had that experience or indeed cold sores.
This dies not seem a big deal and certainly nothing to do with cancer.
It will revert to normal.........monitor the situation for the next week and get back to us if you are worried.

Sqad, you must have read my mind, I've been worried that it could be the start of something nasty, particularly as I've had skin cancer on my face in the past. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll get some tea tree oil and maybe speak to a pharmacist
What did you use on your original cold sores, Shoemad?
I’ve got something similar. I always use Zovirax.

Thanks again everyone. I didn't put anything on the cold sores. Just waited for them to go. I've had them occasionally over the years but have never had a reaction like this before.
