Hello Chaps

I Day is approaching - not counting any chickens yet (or casting any clouts for that matter) - but our migration to the Irish Republic has turned from a vague pipe-dream to something that might actually happen in the next few weeks.

We're starting to make lists ... lots of lists ... and one of them is about stuff we need to stock up on - either because it's ruinously expensive over there (hello Wine and Ibuprofen and all other OTC drugs), or because it just isn't easily available there (various essential cookery condiments).

We do know the place preety well, or we wouldn't be moving there, but can any of our Irish Members (or anyone else with useful local knowledge) prompt us to add things to our lists?

Sláinte

Dave and Gness xx

Motor Insurance is horrific and with your partner's track record probably unobtainable.
Do they have Aldi and/or Lidl?
Forty eight years driving.....not one accident.....never claimed on insurance.....not one speeding fine.....and an advanced driver....so unless Dave has another partner are you having yet another nasty dig at me Retrocop?
Yes to both of those wolfie.
Question Author
Yes - wolfie - Aldi and Lidl are both there - which is a bonus - but the stock range isn't quite as good.

Of course they do, Wolf....wouldn't consider going otherwise!... ;-)

We'll be retaining UK resident status for tax and insurance for a while - but it is apparently 'not amusing' even on the humblest of cars.
s-d, not sure what cookery condiments you refer to, but I have always found what I needed in Dunnes foodhall.

Not at all Gness,
No nasty dig at all. After all you are the one who likes to tell us of your outlandish and highly improbable and imaginative disasters.
Don’t forget that a lot of Mexicans drive over the border and do their shopping in NI.

Choux - it's a few own-brand things from Waitrose and some 'artisan' products from our local markets - nothing that I can't manage without, just 'nice to have'.
Lol ducksie there is at least 1 of those a month at the mo in NI, seriously you would think they would learn not to leave the keys in them overnight!!
Question Author
NI is about five hours from Sneem ... quite a long trip for a packet of headache remedy :)
Sunny no Waitrose anywhere but you could always do a cheap day return on the Dublin ferry to Holyhead
Ducksie...that is a fib....I've seen you wielding a phone! ;-)
ducksie
Then best you tell the fellas how to do it your way without hi-jacking a JCB as in the link @1941. :-)
I think, people can start up a JCB without keys RR :)
That link provided from retro was old news and that lidl is since rebuilt and it was a handful of looters through the snowstorm of last year
Or you could ask nicely and I could send care packages, we are down in mayo in September let me know what you need xx
