Cellulitis in left leg into 5th week, already had a week of 500 mg flucloxacillin qds. Then a gram of the same qds , now nearly finished a week of clindamycin 150 mg qds and although it hasn't spread it is more painful. The pain now feels like its deep in my shin bone and ankle. Trouble is I am rubbish at resting it with so much to do. Is it likely to be inpatient treatment next or are there options I haven't tried yet.

Let ua assume that the diagnosis is not in dispute and there are no underlying medical causes e.g Diabetes or peripheral arterial disease, then i would suggest that we may well be dealing with an MRSA organism.
Rest IS important, monitor the situation for the next 24-48 hours and if there is deterioration, then go to A&E and it may well require in-patient treatment.

My gp warned me to bring a bag if it wasn't better by Tuesday. No other conditions,
I can do most of my jobs online now so rest is an optionally from a brief errand on monday , I will have to hit the ibuprofen and as you say monitor it. Hope it's not mrsa, although it should get me a side room if I am admitted,
I'm no expert, so I'm only going off my personal experience of having cellulitis in exactly the same place as you.
I started off with tablets, then when they ran out, I went back to the hospital to get some more, as the pain hadn't eased and I wasn't due to go back for a few more days.
Cut a long story short, they admitted me immediately and put me on a drip, so the antibiotics could be administered intravenously.
I was in hospital approx 10 days if I remember correctly (it was over 20 years ago).
Anyway, it cleared up and touch wood, I haven't had any recurrences.

Good luck and I hope it clears soon, as I know how painful it can be.
I ended up sleeping on my back with lots of pillows under my leg, as I found that raising my leg eased the pain.
