which i should have mentioned to the doctor yesterday but completely forgot.
its quite solid and on the top of the foot, near the ankle, press it and it hurts quite a bit, and putting shoes on makes it doubly so. Anyone know what it might be? have something similar on left foot same place, only somewhat smaller in size.

Might be bursitis
Question Author
what is that?
Its inflammation of the bursal sack which protects joints. It can get fluid filled
Question Author
could be, looked it up and its possible, according to google you need to rest it, and take anti inflammatory meds none of which i have. How can i rest it when i am up an down all the time..
if it is bursitis it IS very painful and also takes a long time to heal
Question Author
no idea, have had it for a while now, its in both feet but the right one is very swollen, solid like a sac?
well when I remember I had one in the groin - doctor told me it was bursitis - when I asked she said it was fluid that busted out of the bursur (sp). I remember what I had done that time (it was years ago but can remember the pain) - I was training in the gym and used an apparel that forced my leg to the side and up - I did think at the time I had "ripped" something and I had. Sorry Emmie I don't remember anything that helped.
Why are you up and down all the time?
I'm not being stupid, I know we have things to do. But could you possibly do less?
"its quite solid"

Now, be more specific......is it "rock hard and fixed" OR is it hard and mobile.

It doesn't sound like a bursa and from your description depending upon your reply, it sounds like an osteoma ( benign and innocent bone growth)
Question Author
its like solid fluid, like a cyst right across my foot.
wearing shoes just makes it worse.
Oooooo! how can fluid feel solid?....fluid gives.....squidgy....

I give in..........the above posters are probably correct.....a bursa.
Question Author
getting up and down, to make lunch, coffee etc, can't sit still all day..
ganglion?
^^^^ if it is soft, then a good a suggestion of any bednobs.
Question Author
phoned the surgery to get advice, the doctor called back and berated me for calling so late? she is going to call in thursday afternoon. she didn't suggest what it could be, just wanted to know if it was discoloured and pus like,
so no idea what causes it, but getting shoes, socks on is a nightmare.
Question Author
having a ganglion doesn't sound nice at all,
