Hi there I have type 2 diabetes and I am on metformin 1g x2 a day I got my 6 monthly MOT and I have been asked to make an appointment to see him about my diabetic control. I didnt think it was too bad. It is 70, and according to diabetes.co.uk the target is 48. I have had a few problems with infections under arm, groin area and I have nerve pain which comes and goes in my right foot and I feel very tired all the time but otherwise ok. I do eat quite a lot of carbs but I still dont think 70 is too bad for my diet. I hope I am not running out of insulin.

70 isn't good.

The max is 42mmol/mol.
your results are almost double what would be considered good control. You are suffering health problems caused by your diabetes (problems that will never get better).
your doctor probably wants to work with you to try to prevent you either having a heart attck, or having your legs chopped off in the near future.

a couple of years ago I was at 111 so I think it is a bit better. I am thinking about something called victoza injections it looks really good to helping you lose weight and getting the pancreas to produce insulin. I am going to discuss it with him.
i started at slimming world and mine was 52 it's now 42 after 12 weeks .

if you can afford it I would highly recommend joining I look and feel so much better I can walk for miles now where before I would hurt walking a short distance .the diabetic team were very pleased with me too.xx
You need to cut your carbs - bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, pastry etc.
70 is terrible for a diagnosed diabetic on medication for it and you need to do something about it now.
Not good geordie boy....but there again......you never have been have you?
It looks as though you will need insulin, but that decision will be taken by your diabetic Consultant or team.
Gordie...am I correct in thinking you're obese?
I used to work for a Paediatrician who specialised in Diabetes and Endocrinology. He himself was a diabetic. He basically explained that the more carbs you eat, the more insulin your body produces (or you have to inject) and, to put it in his words, "insulin is poison."

Hi there I went to see GP this afternoon and I am relieved it is not injections this time but I have 3 months to turn it around otherwise it is injections. I have been put on a drug called Empagliflozin, it can help you lose weight and reduced your appetite as well as reducing glucose levels it takes away the sugar from the kidneys so you wee a lot !! But the more carbs you eat the more you will wee, so thats an incentive, feeling quite positive about it
Stop eating the wrong things, Geordie.
Cut those carbs Gordie...you'll do yourself a world of good if you do. You'll lose weight, maybe even lose the meds.
If I had a pound for every time you've said you were going to change your ways I'd be a rich woman.

Please focus this time.
He won't listen to us, Pasta. He just keeps on doing the same old things.
I know Tilly...I like repeating myself.
Say that again, Pasta!
Gordie, you have infections, pain and tiredness but otherwise ok...how can that be?

Stop stuffing your face with carbohydrates.

I have thrown out every chocolate bar and bag of sweets out in the bins outside tonight. And I am not going to buy them or have them in the house at all from now on. I want to live and be healthy. I comfort eat because I have mood swings but it is not worth feeling like this. I have a sore stomach took my first one tonight, that is a common side effect at the beginning. I have an addictive nature i cant do moderation it is all or nothing. And I did it with alcohol I havent had a drink or smoked for 17 years after a fright with cardiac issue. And I was very addicted to both of them. So I can do it.
Good for you, gordie, but think about the carbs, too.
