I seem to bruise easily these days and they take a while to disappear. Is this something I should be concerned about or is it just an age thing (I'm 62)? TIA

I think it is an age thing. The same happens to me, my Dermotologist told me as we get older our skin is thinner. Basically.
Age can be a factor in the healing process but if these bruises are unexplained then get checked out.
I'd get them checked out, go to your gp for a blood test, think are you more tired lately and things like that, it's best not to leave it, it must be concerning you if you posted here
Are you on any medication like, steroids, as these cause bruising and thinning of the skin, as I take them, and have the same?
I'm over 70, and for the past 4 years or so I have been getting 'bruises' on my hands and arms, except that they're not the kind that you get if you knock yourself against something hard. They are called senile purpura, and they are purplish 'bruises'. They are caused by subjecting the hands and arms to stress, e.g. lifting a heavy object, or maybe by using hand tools (hedge clippers, screwdriver, hammer, etc.). They occur mostly in people over 60 years old, hence the 'senile' name. They are harmless, and fade after a few days. Is this what you have?
Are you on aspirin, if so that could be the cause?
If not and you feel well in yourself, not short of breath or extreme weakness and tiredness, then i agree with all the above......it is your age.
Don't worry.
