For quite a few weeks I have had an ache from under my left arm, the ache continues down to the side of my bust. It is uncomfortable when I am in bed and when I lift my arm to use it... bearing in mund I am left handed.
Went to the doctors the other week, had to see a strange doctor, he didnt examine it just felt round the side of my back that goes to the under arm. He thought it was a muscle...just told me to take painkillers... But this has started to get me down now so went and saw my own doctor this morning..Will examining it and pressing under my arm I nearly hit the roof as it was so painful. Now he wants me to go to hospital and have an xray plus I have to have blood tests.? I have been worried about it I must admit. Brenda xx

No, I havent had such a thing.......BUT.....it sounds either like a sebaceous cyst that has become inflamed.....OR......more likely an inflamed lymph gland.
The blood tests are to help identify the "inflammation" and the chest X-Ray is sensible and routine.

Doesn't sound a big deal to me.
Do you use spray anti-persp? Or even any anti-perspirant? I grew what looked like a 3rd breast (there was a mole on top) years ago and it was down to a blocked duct. Your doctor is sensibly checking everything so all should be well.
I had this once, it was as Sqad suggests a sebaceous cyst ..it burst open after a hot bath, drained and was fine afterwards..it was very sore at the time before it burst though !
The pain you describe reminds me of a huge cyst I had once, as the other respondents have said. The doctor pressed it and I almost jumped through the roof. I'm surprised the first doctor didn't examine it. You'll soon know when you have the X-ray, but I would think it's not too serious.
