You'd know it was in the offing but there's still no 'cure'.

I would take the test.

Their are medications that may slow the onset and things we can do ourselves as well.

I think I would also like to know so we can understand what is going on when we first start getting the first symptoms and we can seek help and advice.
There*
I'd take it.
No, I wouldn't want to know. If its going to be full blown dementia within the year, it's too late to do anything about it now, anyway. It would just be terrifying waiting for it to affect you.
It would be good to put your affairs in order whilst you still can..and give the code to your deposit account in a Swiss bank to your mistress.
For sure.
Preparing is a good opportunity, may be able to slow progress. And there may be a cure tomorrow.
Would i take a test to identify a psychiatric disorder in which there was no cure or ameliorating factors where 10% of the results were false?

No.
Definitely not.
I would. As ratter says, drugs like aricept seem to be very effective in delaying symptoms- and the sooner you can take them, the better. You can also plan ahead to take worry and guilt off your family.
Sqad, So you've already given the code number to your secret Swiss account to your mistress?

. "Que Sera, Sera!"
jomifl...LOL.
Yes. I have it, jom ;-)
pixie.....I have spent enough on you already....but well worth it ;-)

Now...........if I was asked to give blood for a scientific study, the nature of which I knew not and the results not divulged to me ( unless of course there was an obvious abnormality e.g leukaemia)........... then I would say.........Yes.
I certainly would, but if I have to wait for 2 yrs I'll have forgotten most things!
As you are probably aware I am now 89 y/o & I would love to discuss this with you all but I have forgotten what the subject is.
;-)
But you remember your 89 ?
I would take it, and if positive I would agree to be a guinea pig.
