dad is the same, tall and lean as well, never change in all the years we have been married, but my son is now working, and i think he is burning more calories than hes taking in, he does eat a well balance diet,(healthy) what else can i add to his diet to help him bulk up a little, i think he is under weight, cant tell you what weight he is a moment as hes out, but if he was a woman i would have said about a size 8 and about 5ft9 if that makes sense! lol. i dont want him taking supplements if need be.
Thanks

Hi alinic - does he want to just put on weight or put on muscle?
I agree- maybe a gym or somewhere to bulk up a bit.
My boy (he is now 23) is the same. We call him 'Fliptop' because if you step on his foot his mouth opens. He eats a lot but never puts weight on. He has a physical job also and needs lots of food to keep going. He has breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner & then cereal to go to bed. He tries to have porridge most mornings but for his snacks he has pasta. He boils the pasta and adds a can of chicken soup or chopped tomatoes. Not exciting but for energy. He also drinks about 4 pints of milk a day. He does try to eat as Many carbs as possible to give him the energy for work
Take a peek at this link - I gave the same link to a friend a few months ago whose 20 yr old son was upset about being underweight. He didn't realise how little he was actually eating (he wrote a diary for a couple of weeks and ate less than his mum even though he was twice as active/ busy). He is now enjoying going to the gym a few times a week and has learnt to cook too (he has padded out with muscle - but not 'overly so' and looks healthier). The link has some good tips in so hope it helps:

Is he tired? does he get spots or lots of illnesses? If not then all is fine. If he wants more muscle then the gym is the place, if not and he is happy then leave things be.

Thanks for all your answers, he just want to put weight on, he wont go to gym, hes not goit enough hrs in the day to go to gym, hes not spotty etc, yes tried through the hours hes working, will have a look at the link peaspecuiar.
As woofgang says- if he's generally healthy, it's probably his natural weight and nothing to worry about. If it's him wanting to look a bit bulkier, he needs muscle rather than fat.
I'm curious to know why you want to alter how he is. If it ain't broke, why fix it? He seems a lucky chap 'he does eat a well balanced diet (healthy). Leave well enough alone, none of us conform to a stereotype.
