I have received a letter this morning from a Health screening firm with 6 steps and checks to help avoid health problems the six tests are priced individualy with a total of £i29. My question is , is it worth persuing bearing in mind that I am now 80yrs. plus and also is it worth passing on to friends and family

Aged 80 yrs....well done...you have "bucked the trend" and no I would not personally pursue it.

Yes.....pass it on to friends and family........they might be interested.
Your GP can give you or your family a full MOT if you ask them for free.

They are just private healthcare firms charging people for what they are entitled to already on the NHS.
scam.bin.
It's a selling exercise, grandfather - at your age, your GP can give you that raft of tests for nothing, as a matter of routine. All you have to do is ring the surgery and go and discuss it with your GP.
woofy........I am interested.....why is it a scam?

Do they not provide the service that they are advertising?
If it's something I was offered and took up, it wasn't a scam at all.
At the time the NHS weren't offering Aortic aneurism screening.
I also had a couple of other tests done that weren't on the NHS.
As it was at our local Hall, I thought I'd give it a go.
what are the six tests?
Are the checks things you cannot get on the NHS grandf?

Tell us a bit more about them but my first reaction is not to spend the money if you can ask the GP for the same thing.
i would think the GP can offer you the same for free.
I wouldn't have one of these screens, nor would I pass on the letter to my family.
"....according to the body which advises the government on screening, the procedures offered by private companies such as Life Line Screening can be expensive, unnecessary and misleading."
