hi, haven't been on here in ages but thought i would ask anyway.
I suffer from sore breasts around mid cycle, but just lately its becoming all the time. its really difficult at times, even lying down can be uncomfy, and Im now not wearing a bra around the house and hiding in baggy jumpers, but hopefully!! summer will be here soon, so that will be impossible. Wearing a good fitted bra for more that a few hours is like torture. I was properly measured.
I'm just wondering if anyone else on here who suffers with this, knows of any support websites in the UK, where I could chat to others who suffer from this as its slowly driving me mad and I have nobody to talk to about this.

I saw my GP about 12 months ago when it was just mid cycle and she suggested evening primrose oil and to take ibuprofen when at its worse but EP did nothing, and i don't want to rely on pain killers. She did say to return if problem persisted, but I don't think there's much they can do so haven't been back. She did reassure me that painful breasts is not usually a sign of anything nasty, so i'm not worried about that, but this is affecting day to day life now. Thank you

ill fitting bra
I sympathise as I used to suffer. Found EP did help a bit. May I ask your age? Mine was worse between mid twenties to mid thirties. Then I had my sons and it seemed to sort out.

thank you yogasun. im mid 40s and had 5 kiddies and defo not having any more, not even to help relieve this lol
i think you should go back to your docs. have you tried a support bra and/or getting fitted again just to check?
I don't suffer all the time but occasionally I do suffer from tender breasts and can sympathise with you.

You say you've been properly measured for bras, have you tried different styles? Trying underwired and supportive but not underwired may help. Personally I find wearing a comfy bra when I'm tender better than letting them swing free.

If it is affecting your day to day life I suggest you do go back to your GP.
Actually thinking back it DID get bad again approaching the menopause which I didn't get til 57! I think coming up to 50 it was unpleasant.
Go back to GP as they might have something new now.
I'm going through the menopause right now (hot flushes etc) and I find my breasts very sore for around 2 weeks in 4 - often so sore that, like you, I can hardly bear to wear a bra. I've tried EP oil but it didn't help. Maybe this is just one of the symptoms of menopause? If you've been checked out by the GP and there are no lumps or discharge, then it's probably just one of those hormonal things. I'm hoping it will stop altogether once I finish menopause. Hope this helps.
Ask your local chemist if you can't get to your GP. Sometimes they can advise better than GP (not all the time, before someone shouts at me)
Alba....what a fabulous idea........did you think of that your self or did you discuss it with boxy?........;-)
sqadlet, I'm going to borrow Mrs O's marigolds :-) xx

Sometimes, just sometimes, it's easier and quicker with a chemist than a GP :-D
;-)
This was discussed yesterday, mandy - it sound outlandish, but if you put cabbage leaves in your bra, it can really help... (please google it if it sounds unlikely!)
boxy....this dirty talk is turning me on.........

thank you all, will try some of the tips given (and yes Ive heard of the cabbage thing before, but giving that one a miss thanks!), will also give the evening primrose another go. Will try booking a gp appointment for my day off this week, although im guessing they are already booked up.
Does any know what dosage EP I should take as I cant seem to remember if I was taking one or two day. thank you again x
seems to be v odd that you didn't take the GP's advice especially if it's affecting your day to day life. Also very odd that you wont go back (mind you, if you are going to ignore what she says, i suppose it's a waste of time)
Question Author
i took my GPs advice and tried Evening Primrose for almost six months, but EP didnt help. The GP also gave other advice too, which i followed. This has started to affect day to day life in the last month or so, so I have been waiting to see if it would settle and go back to being a mid cycle thing, which at the moment it isnt. I said i didn't think there was much the GP can do to help (she said as much herself) so I havent been back yet, but Im at that point.
see another GP then - it might not be her area of speciality.
