I have my 4 day old grandaughter staying with us, and two days ago she was projectile vomiting, several times, but then that stopped, she is feeding well now,
( breast feeding and not being sick at all) but She's not very lively, and we have just noticed a bump on her skull behind the ear. any ideas?

I believe babies' skulls can be quite lumpy until the skull settles down - but if you are worried, contact the doctor.
..and 4 days old is no time at all to be "lively" (is it?)

thanks boxtops. I agree, 4 days old is not nearly old enough to be running around, it was just that the midwife said " if the baby gets sleepy ( She's slightly jaundiced) take her to the hospital" She;s done nothing but sleep most of the time since she was born, but when she is awake She is quite lively and appears to be looking around at things.
How often is she feeding? I just checked and they are supposed to feed eight to twelve times a day in the first month (Christ, it's a wonder I didn't die of exhaustion with thing 1 and thing 2). Maybe this will give you an indication of if she is sleeping too much and if anything is amiss.
I think it may vary between different Health Boards, but is the Health Visitor still visiting your granddaughter? If so, I would mention it to her. If for no other reason than to put your mind at rest.
You do not say if the lump is hard or soft.......Imwould bet tht it is soft, in which case it is a small cyst of no significance.
There are no life threatening conditions in a 4 day old baby.

Just monitor the situation.
