Yes, they often start during the peri-menopause which given your age, you are verly likely to be at that stage
yes. although they could be due to something else, so you should get checked over by your gp.

I've only been getting them the last 3/4 days
yes mine started years before my periods ended.
Mine were induced unnaturally. Jeremy Hardy once heard his friend saying she was having "her own personal summer".
I kinda like that.
I didn't get them on the change but have been blighted by the for a few months and the change was over long ago
It has been quite humid on and off recently though. I have been getting a few I figure just due to weather though I overheat very easily anyway - am like a little hot water bottle to touch in some parts like round my upper back and neck and when joints hot and swollen.

I was literally stripping off (not completely!) and fanning myself in the hospital earlier as I felt like I was burning up I felt so hot, was actually perspiring! Probably from coming from a grim outside into a warm hospital building with no natural airflow.

I was told that menopausal hot flushes are quite unique in themselves (no idea personally but heard a few people say it).
yes they are like nothing else, not like running a temperature, not like a hot joint or feeling the heat on a hot day...once experienced never forgotten!
It's more than likely hot flushes but I agree with lcg, have a word with your doctor, s/he can do a blood test to see if you're menopausal.
Mine have been worse lately & I wondered if it was the humidity too Jenna.

I will get it checked out but the last one I had was yesterday evening and it started from my chest area went up my neck to my face and they only way I can describe it was as if I was blushing from my chest up
That's exactly how it is for me fs. Well actually I feel a sinking feeling (slightly nauseous) in my stomach first and then the heat grows and creeps up from my chest to my face. I'm fair skinned and just wish I didn't turn 50 shades of pink. :)
I am dreading mine, my Mum got them at 50, and really suffered. Am hoping I am different when time comes
My Mum sailed through menopause, she had some migraines but not many, no flushes, nothing. Mine has been long and a damned nuisance. I too get the sicky feeling with the flushes and sometime dizziness. The nearest I can describe it as is like a whizzy fairground ride sickness and dizziness, at worst it use to feel like falling backwards. I learned to roll over onto my back when it started because lying on your stomach, it felt like falling backwards upwards away from the bed which is interesting but not something you want to repeat.
