Stabbing little cramp pain in calf

The other night in the early hours I got severe cramp in my right leg - the sort you have to leap of of bed and shout "Ya-roo" Now two days later I keep getting short sharp little stabbing pains in the back of the same calf, only lasting for a few seconds but very painful - almost takes my breath away. I had the pain half a dozen times today and the same yesterday. What can be causing that? I do have a few unsightly varicose veins but these have never been painful. I'm worrying that it could be a DVT/blood clot. Please reassure or advise Sqad - many thanks :)

First of all, it is NOT a DVT or blood clot.

You certainly had cramp in your leg and the cause of cramp is I'll understood, but quite often one experiences smaller "episodes" in the same place for days after.

Don't worry.

Phew - what a relief, thanks for that Sqad! Thankfully not had it again during the night or since I posted! :)
Tonic water's good for cramp, daisy - it's the quinine in it.
