I've just recieved the app't to have this done. This is a recording of my heart taken over 24 hours. Because after open heart surgery my heart still has an irregular beat.

5 patches will be placed on my chest which will be attached to a cable & then to a recording device. Carried like a shoulder bag. The bag contains a special electronic card which is programmed with my details.

What I am wondering has any other ABers had this proceedure done? How was it?

Well......this is a common procedure.

Yes, I have had it done, but it was a couple of days after heart surgery.

It is no big deal Jemisa and quite common.
Yes jem, I had it from the GP, just to check irregularities. It was fine.

Its 13 weeks now since the op and every time I go for a check-up
(every 2 weeks) they go on about the heartbeat, even call others in to "Come & listen" This procedure is to be done in March, so I'm not all that worried if they can leave it til then.
Thanks Sqad, Hope you're a lot better.
Thanks Boxi.

Had it, been there, got the T shirt. Nowt to it.
No, have not had this done, but some people I know need a personality transplant. Do they do this on the N.H.S. or do you have to pay for it yourself?
Sounds just like a slightly more complicated version of 24 hour blood pressure monitoring which I have had. Worst bit may be getting to sleep with it on.
Had 2 24 hour tapes and two 5 day ones only problem with the longer one is skin irritation from the pads and not being able to bath/shower no bother really the longer one the little gadget is clipped to one of two pads and has a cord you wear round your neck in case it comes off...
the only (problem ) is where to put the bag !

Ann they tell me it will be a small shoulder bag, but if not suitable they will strap it around my waist.
Jboy Yes I know a few people who could do with the same transplant, the NHS couldn't cope with it.

Had it done a couple of years ago, they got a bit exited when they checked the results, as although I had told them, they hadn't recorded the fact that I was on night duty.
I've had it done a couple of times - mine was only 3 leads though and the recorder bit was about the size of a walkman, it clipped onto the waistband of my jeans. I then had to keep a diary of any palpitations I noticed, and note what I was doing at the time.
