My masseuse asked the other day if I was on a diet. I'm not, but her question got me thinking. I dug out an old pair of trousers which were too tight and now they're a bit lose.
What's going on?

Have you cut down on drinking?

Are you busier?
It's quite possible that whilst not consciously dieting you've cut down or stopped eating whatever it was that was making you a lardarse?

;-)
It's a pretty simple equation generally....

If your intake is more than you burn of by any activity you put weight on.

If your intake is less then you burn of by activity you loose weight.

So if you're intake hasn't changed but you're loosing weight then you're burning off more than you were before.

No, not busier, and I haven't had a drink for a long time.
Unexplained weight loss usually indicates a trip to your GP is needed.
Not just alcohol.

If gave up coffee I'd be saving myself 20 spoons of sugar a day...

It's not just 'you are what you eat' it's 'you are what you eat and drink' people often forget to look at how many calories they consume through drink as well as food.
If you are losing a lot of weight for no obvious reason then as gingejbee said, a trip to the GP would be in order.
I agree.....unexplained loss of weight MAY require investigation.
for example, it often goes with thyroid issues......
Sandy - there are many causes for unexplained weight loss.
As others have said, you need to make an appointment to see your GP.
Masseuse? I wont ask.
How much though, sandy? If you have just become a bit slimmer, and have cut down on the alcohol, you could well have lost some off your waist with nothing to worry about.
It can't be that much. Trousers that were too tight are now a bit lose...that could happen with less than half a stone.

I'll go and see my GP next year. My clothes aren't hanging off me so I'd guess the weight loss isn't great.
