Yes been there having fallen over coming down a crag in the lake district. It was 2 weeks after my friend had injured her coccyx. The Dr had already advised her that he would not send her to hospital as in this type of injury the Xray was more dangerous than the injury as there was nothing he could do even if it was broken. Hence I didn't bother going. It lasted a couple...

No big deal.

How long will it take to settle? How long is a piece of string?

Take Ibuprofen 600mgms for the pain.
Oh god, I feel for you so much! I fell on the thin metal strip of some sliding doors (trying to get a bottle of Tequila from the garden) and landed on my coccyx. I have never ever known pain like it and I'm afraid to say it lasted for weeks and weeks. I never had it x-rayed but that was about ten years ago and I still can't push pressure directly on it without a fair amount of discomfort.

squad
err no big deal.... you are kidding arent you.. its your spine!
I do know where the coccyx is............I think.
Sqad, I'm going to argue against your superior knowldge on this occasion in terms of pain relief. I recommend Norfolkbirdie takes whatever pain killers she can find to knock her out cold for six weeks. ;)

sqad ..with respect, you reply is of no help

injuries to the spine are a big deal..are agony ...and take time to heal
Question Author
evianbaby .........so 6 weeks is no time then... just wondering how long i will be in pain that will keep me off work?
What did the hospital say?
norfolkbird....fine.

Evianbaby....my advice was to take pain relief.
Norfolkbirie - I don't know about how long it will take to heal, your case could be very different from mine. I didn't take any time off (college then), just worked through the pain.

Sqad, I know you suggested pain relief. I suggested about 100x what you suggested. It was tongue in cheek.
norfolkbird, you are new here, this is a typical couldn't give a damn comment from Sqad, if its not life threatening. sqad has shown us many times that he often gives very poor and unsafe advice, take him with a very large pinch of salt.

It obviously is a big deal for you.

Do you get pleasure from these personal insults?
They are getting rather boring now.
Well Sqad isn't wrong. It's not life threatening and she's already been told there is stuff all she can actually do about it other than take pain killers. Believe me, I know how much it bloody hurts but I'm not sure what other answers there are.
The truth hurts?
Morning norfolkbird,

Sorry to hear about your accident......I bet the pain is unbearable at times as it's the bottom of your spine......as Ummmm says what did the hospital say?........

Healing times would obviously vary, so I would take what they prescribed you....if not working, go back to hospital or GP....get strongest pain killers you can for relief.........rest easy for at least 4 weeks...light massage may help but only lightly not too aggressive if you can get someone to do that.....if still bad go back to hospital/GP for advice/further help.

I wish you a speedy recovery, norfolkbird.... and welcome to AB btw.......:0)
Its the constant "No big deal." maybe these issues are a big deal for the people concerned!!!
I think he meant in the big scheme of things medically, rather than it's not a big deal for the person concerned. A headache is a big deal for the person who has it, but in the grander view is nothing to worry about generally. Squad is to the point and there's nothing wrong with that, he told her to take pain relief, not much else can be said really.
Agree with NOX...
"Its the constant "No big deal." maybe these issues are a big deal for the people concerned!!"

I stand by my comment above!
Just Sqad's bedside manner, RATTER......he means well and looks at the big picture to try to get the poster not to worry too much about it.......he did mention pain relief is the best solution and said what type too. :0)
