Hiya

Been looking at the possibility of going back on some sort of contraceptive as with new partner.. What contraceptives are suitable when you suffer with migraines?? Is there any of the pills that are suitable etc ??

I'm sure there are, but more progesterone (cant think of how to spell it lol) based, as with myself, the heightened amount of oestrogen in my system was causing me to suffer migraines x
I am now on a progesterone (sp) only implant and have had no problems with it :) x
It's probably quite individual as to what you personally can tolerate. I get migraines and had to come off Dianette as I was getting daily headaches and I've heard other people say they were fine on Dianette and some had similar problems but with different contraceptives.

There may be some which are more prone to causing headaches as a side effect then others though. Might be a bit of trial and error.

I was find on the injection though if you have it and suffer then you're a bit screwed until it runs out.

I'm on Yasmin now and had no problems.

Thankyou.. ive been on the Pill (3 versions) patches and injection before.. unfortunately suffered side effects eg irregular bleeds and pain etc. But thinking of giving it another try. Will try and get to see my doctor tomorow and see what he thinks.

Just wondering on what others are on etc
before going on the implant i was on cerezette (unsure of spelling) and it really worked for me, as I also suffered irregular bleeding ect, I also sometimes use this aswell as the implant as i do sometimes have irregular bleeding, as well as no bleeding for months on end. However, I do not want to risk coming off the implant. Good luck :D xx

Thanks roxie.. just concerned with migranies really kicking off again and having side effects like the rest of the time.. but i guess our bodies change with time.. Just a bit unsure wether to try again just incase etc
As I've said, the combined pills (I was on microgynen) because of the extra oestrogen gave me real bad headaches, so much so I could not move my head, couldnt be in a room with bright lights and couldnt watch tv. As you've said though, have a chat with your Doctor and see if there is anything specific that you could try :) xx
