I had a consultation today to have my hair lifted a few shades (after a long time of dying it very dark) - hairdresser has booked me in for a cleansing bath which she says will lift the colour off my hair.

What is it though? Is it just bleach?

My daughter has just had a bleach bath and I am assuming this is what you are having. They mixed bleach with water and massaged it through the hair to lift out the colour that was in it.

Although, I don't want to put you off, I must say that the colour didn't totally come out of her hair, but then she was going from dark to blonde.

Thanks HJT! :-) Yes, mine is just to lighten by a few shades so hopefully this will be ok.

How is the condition of your daughters hair after the bleach bath?
Her hair was dry before hand, so it is not so good at the moment, but we were advised to buy some protein shampoo and conditioner for her and she has been told not to use the straighteners so much.

It is powder bleach & peroxide; make sure it's not left on the hair for more than 30mins. All the color will be stripped out and the hair will be golden blonde. Re-growth is obvious & uniform.

Why not ask for a full head of hilites instead. Re-growth isn't quite so obvious & less stress to hair.
