Can anyone recommend a good natural hair dye? I am starting to go grey - just at the temples -and have medium to dark brown hair. I have previously used permanent hair dyes sporadically (3 to 4 times a year) but don't want to keep putting these harmful chemicals on my skin. Any ideas please?

You could try henna, from Body Shop. I used to use it a lot as a teenager, but I prefer permanent dyes now.
Sadly I don't think any natural dye will cover grey very well. I also used henna loads when I was young but it reacts badly with previously dyed hair and will make grey at best ginger.

Thanks for both replies. I don't really fancy the reddish look of henna as I don't want anything too dramatic. Would prefer something as close as possible to the original colour if possible. Think that Holland & Barrett do some dyes so will investigate there.
I have seen these products in the local health food shop and had a good read of the website. They seem to fit the bill perfectly as I like you, am just about to embark on covering some minor greying.

The website is really useful, read every tab and I think you'll find everything you need to know about the products. I'm just trying to decide now, which colour to buy, its not easy for a first timer! Let me know what you think as I have medium to dark hair too.

Thanks so much for the link, Maydup. I will have a look in our local health food shop next week and give it a try. Let me know how you get on too :)
