can anyone advise on a good anti-dandruff shampoo? I have a dry scalp I think and really suffer from dandruff, which makes me feel dirty and as though I cant wash my hair properly. I've tried head and shoulders but this makes it worse, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated x

I have found the shops own brands to be absolutely fine.
I find dyeing my hair gets rid of mine, - possibly a bit drastic for you though!
A dermatologist friend recommends Oilatum Scalp Treatment shampoo - but it is very pricey. A little research and I found that Simple Anti-dandruff has a very similar formula and is about one-seventh the cost - works very well, too.
I'm thinking of dying my hair again. Getting it cut on saturday so will wait to see how it looks after that.

Another much over looked range is that alberto balsm (sp) stuff... I got it recently as it was cheap and I was having problems with the shampoos I was buying (everything was making my hair greasy) so in a fit of temper I brought the cheap stuff deciding I wasn't wasting any more money on the matter... turned out it was really good and at £3 for 4 bottles, I haven't looked back!

I'm due to dye my hair actually lol, just waiting for my sister to cut it first. It's just annoying, not sure if other people notice it, but I am so self consious about it x
Go for the Sinead O'Connor cut?

I've tried the alberto stuff, the mint one, but again it just makes it worse. Does conditioner contribute to dandruff? Just a random question lol x
vosene is good, I find it good to alternate shampoos because medicated
shampoo is strong. In between I use herbal essences.
I don't think you should put conditioner on the top of your head if you do, just the ends. That's what I heard anyway but don't know if it's true.

lol i could do but dont think I would get away with it quite aswell as she did x

I'm sure I've heard that too China Doll, I put a little bit on because my hair is so thick and hard to handle if I don't x
Are you rinsing your hair throughly?
Question Author
Yes ummm, I make sure everytime, as at first I thought that may be it, I proper scrub it for about 5 minutes if not more, as I am really paranoid that this is what causes it, no luck so far though x
My hairdresser told me that the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo is very good for shifting dandruff - I've used it a few times and it does work - it is expensive, but you don't have to use much at a time - she also said it's best not to use a very well known brand of dandruff shampoo, as it's very harsh on the hair. (and no, she doesn't work for Paul Mitchell!)
Get some T/Gel from any chemist, use twice a week, your problem will go away very soon.
Selsunw orks for me, though a bit smelly at first.

B00's got the right idea: dye your dandruff.
