Hey there, Didnt know what section to put this in, so thought it would come under law as it involves money. I recently got asked to do a photoshoot for Diesel Models agency and they said id had passed there stage which allows them to book out Bluerooms studio in london. In order for them to make sure i would turn up, I had to pay the sum of £50.00 pounds desposit which they said I would get back on the day.

On the day of turning up at shoot with Bluerooms Studio, I got in there and the photographer was Very rushed and said to hurry up as she wanted to go to the pub with her friends. It was ment to take 3-4 hours the shoot which was only about 30 Mins if that. Then sent me down to view the pictures as they said I had to buy on the day or not at all. So left me on edge as they looked very good pictures and they said I would get work from this.

The man who showed the photos to us as I had to go with a parent as Iam 21 was trying to rush us and basically begged us to buy pictures for £700.00 and with that they would build a website.

My mum and I combined payed £475.00 with the outstand balance left to pay, But untill she got home the same day she didnt realise she didnt have the money for the rent which was due the next day, we asked for the money back and he simply said they cant give the money back, But surely if you have not had the full item, they cant just take money off you without having the product.

Please try and help , Thanks

no decent model agency will ask you to buy photos. Youve fallen for a scam by sound of it. And really your mum shouldve when rent was due

Aside from that though, if you agreed to purchase something then you owe the balance and they could take it to court.

did your mum pay by cheque or card? can she speak to her bank about getting it stopped?

They said they would only give us the pictures , and do the internet site once the payment was paid in full.

He said on the day if we dont want them then they will get erased and he will refund the money back to me the same day. But we felt very pushed into it , and only reason my mum offered to help out was because they garrenteed success.

She paid by card.
how can anyone guarentee success for a modelling career?

have you spoken to the person who said they could refund the monies?

how did you pay? surely you didnt have that much cash in your pockets?
sorry, what sort of card and have you spoken to card provider to see if you can call the payment back
dont bother my daughter was asked by the same firm last year they ask even more when discussing portfolio shots she didnt bother also its the same with a firm called elite
Scam. As redcrx has said, if your 'look' is really what they want, an Agency will swallow all the initial costs themselves as they will be confident of recouping their initial outlay later...
Hi there,

Very sorry to hear about this. I think you should get in touch with Clive Hurst, who has a leading role in the actors' union (Equity) and is a well-known campaigner against upfront fees and portfolio rogues. He has his telephone number and e-mail address on his website, and has been known to get people's money back in some instances. Worth a go, and fingers crossed it turns out okay. I'd also suggest you get in touch with your nearest citizen's advice bureau.

Clive's website is www.anactor.net

In addition, try reporting this to the BBC, through Watchdog and Radio 1- they take in interest in these things and I feel that if victims at least make their experiences known, then something can be done. The Daily Mirror (Penman and Sommerlad Investigate) would equally be interested I'm sure. But in the first instance, get in touch with Clive and see what he says!

Best of luck!
I have been to the very same place when I was 15 and they also scammed us! they tell you you dont need to pay for anything only the photos if you want to, but really you are paying for everything at £700 your paying for the studio for them and everything ! all you get is a poxy cd, yes the photos are amazing but you could go somewhere els and get loads of photos really cheap! this place is a scam! You dont need all these photos for your portfolio , I had an agency after doing this but they didn't want my photos they took there own! All you need is about 3-5 just showing you smileing with your teeth, a full length photo and afew others. Yes it is a good experience but SOOOOOO not worth it in the end. You see the photos and just think wooow i want them! But don't do it. I feel so sorry to here about your experience , but you won't get the money back there scammers!!! Good luck in the future with modeling =) and hope all goes well x Naomi
